Remember who you are..

Remember who you are..
We all have come across that phrase at some point in our life, most of us first heard the phrase from the movie ‘The Lion King’, when Mufasa’s spirit showed up to Simba and uttered those words.
The phrase “Remember who you are” has different meanings to each and every one of us, I will just express how, I, understood the phrase.
Well, obviously Simba knew ‘who he was’, the Lion prince of what what (forgot the name of the land πŸ˜) Land. But to understand the phrase we first need to understand at which phase of Simba’s life did Mufasa find him.
Simba witnessed his Father (Mufasa) being murdered by his uncle (Skye), then Skye threatened/lied to Simba, that the reason his father died was because of him and he was going to tell the whole village that. Then, the young scared Simba decided to run away from the village to stay in the ‘wild’ foreign land.
While at the wilderness, he met Pumba πŸ—and Timon πŸΏ, two carefree animals, living for the moment, no stress, no worry about life problems, tackling each day as it comes, Hakuna Matata.
He became friends with Pumba and Timon, learned how to survive away from the safety of his royal home. He learned the way of life and survival according to Timon and Pumba, he learned how to hunt for insects and bugs πŸ›πŸž (yes, a whole lion hunting insects)
Don’t get me wrong, Timon & Pumba were good friends to Simba at that stage of his life. They played a good role and taught him life lessons which he wouldn’t have learned if he was at his safe royal home. They took him out of his “shell” and taught him how to ‘Live’...
Well, enough about that, y’all have watched the movie (I hope so)
So, the phrase “Remember who you are” meant Simba needs to remember his values, responsibilities, honour and pride that he has as the “King of the jungle”
In life, we all have moments were we are ‘lost’, were we lose touch with who we really are. We get into these avatars we have created to fit in with the world. We then adopt certain values, way of life and lifestyles that we learn from Timon & Pumba-s we meet in this journey of life. We adopt things which our true-self know that they are not for us, and we just adapting to survive and to fit in.
Never feel bad for un-becoming the version of yourself that does not serve you anymore, the version that doesn’t have your best interest for you and your future.
Never feel guilty for setting boundaries, protecting your peace and mental health.
Self care is important.
Take care of yourself.
Who are you, when no one is around?
-Yes, that’s who you really are, that’s the person you need to listen to, the person you need to reconnect with.
If you can tell the world who you are and what you believe in, without hesitation, then you are truly happy with yourself.
..and always, Remember who you are..

You need to LET GO

Let go of that hurt and pain
You have cried for far too long

Let go of things that are stripping your heart and soul of it’s happiness

You can’t heal by revisiting the hurt

You can’t get to your future by still holding on to your past

Stop pressing reply to things that you need to delete from your life

Stop being angry at God for not closing the door that YOU choose to keep re-opening

You can’t get your life together by staying involved with things and people who are tearing your life apart

Why complain about a situation you are not willing to change?

Yes, I do understand that sometimes we can’t control getting hurt, disappointed.. but rehearsing the same pain is a choice.

Walking down the same path that got you hurt is a choice.

Living the same lifestyle that led you to your heartbreak πŸ’” is a choice

Hanging around with the same people who have abused your trust and kindness is a choice

You might not be in control of how people treat you, but you’re always in control of what you accept.

Your tears have served the ground for far too long. It’s time to rebuild yourself :)

It’s time for that smile 😊 to nolonger be a stranger.

Time to LET GO of things, emotions and people stripping your heart and soul of it’s happiness πŸ™ƒ

The Starfish Story

An old man walked across the beach until he came across a young boy throwing something into the  sea. Upon closer inspection, the old man could see that the boy was tossing stranded starfish from the sandy beach, back into the ocean.

“What are you doing, young man?” He asked.

“If the starfish are still on the beach when the sun rises, they will die,” the
boy answered.

“That is ridiculous. There are thousands of miles of beach and millions of starfish. It doesn’t matter how many you throw in; you can’t make a difference.” the old man said.

“It matters to this one,” the boy said as he threw another starfish into the waves. “..and it matters to this one too.”

Africa Has Lost It's Greatest Son, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

It is such a sad day for the Mandela family and the continent at large as we mourn the passing of one of Africa’s greatest leaders, Nelson Mandela..

I pay my respects to a leader of a global movement to end human rights injustices and the apartheid government that has been oppressing the black communities in South Africa for years..

Today as we mourn, honour and pay tribute to his legacy, we are reminded of the power of forgiveness, peace and reconciliation of the human spirit..

The loss of such an iconic figure will be felt for a very long time. Madiba, as he was popularly known as, has left a mark in the hearts and minds of millions of people in the continent and the world over..

The Bible can be confusing sometimes..

In Genesis 19:4-8 --> "Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom -both young and old- surrounded the house. They called to Lot, 'where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, so that we can have sex with them..' Lot went out outside to meet them and shut the door behind him, and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing. Look, i have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do anything you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof."

It gets more interesting..

In 2 Peter 2:7 --> "But God also rescued Lot out of Sodom because he was righteous man who was sick of shameful immorality of the wicked people around him."
